Newsround News Package Analysis

Newsround News Package Analysis:

Newsround Episode Date: 04-10-21

Newsround is commonly known as a news show primarily made for children from around 6-12 years old, the stories shown on the show usually range from cute animal facts, big scientific events and a positive movement or message that is being spread. However, from time to time, they switch to telling stories that you would hear on more adult news programmes too. Such as the recent Petrol shortage crisis and climate change stories.

However, the main things that make Newsround an affective and engaging package are its structure, editing and presenters. The show opens with a brief introduction and welcome from the Anchor, usually very warm and friendly, setting the tone for the show being relaxed but to the point. We then get the headlines, which are all very different in tone and subject but work in the order they have been told to be presented in. The 2 main segments are around 2-3 minutes long and the lighter features are about 45 seconds to 1 minute long. This usually results in a show that is 7-8 minutes long.

This is a perfect show to look to when making ours as the show manages to pack in a lot of knowledge and information into such a short time frame, all thanks to the editing for keeping in the important facts and the time for light friendliness from the anchor. The Anchor also brings the right amount of welcoming nature and seriousness when the time is right. They even know when to throw in a bit of Light Humour.
